Imperial Coffee Milkshake Stout

16 ounce can, dating is smudged but the date stamped on the bottom is sometime in 2023. This was part of the late 2022 Milkshake Stout box release. Served in a Spiegelau stout glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half frothy tan head that stayed around a while. Small amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like coffee, roasted malt, and some dark chocolate. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's some dark bread and a hint of caramel flavor noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good solid brew, although it is on the light side for an imperial. Definitely worth trying!

This one was hanging out in the fridge from the Christmas 2022 Twelve Days of Milkshake Stout pack, and it’s probably the best of the bunch from this pack.

The thin mouthfeel of the Milkshake Stouts have always bugged me, and still does here. I can only wonder what this would be like with a nice, chewy feel.

The taste rules this one. Huge blast of roasty coffee leads the way and…that’s about it. And really, that’s all I need from a beer called Imperial Coffee Milkshake Stout. Good beer.

 

I got a can of this beer from a mixed Christmas holiday 12pck that I bought from my local meijer store. It poured an opaque dark with tan head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had dark chocolate and roast notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with dark roast chocolate malt base and bold coffee highlights. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had smooth carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.
