Pours a very dark color with a small white head on top. Has a watered down malty smell to it. Taste is of burnt grain and somehow a taste of tobacco in it!

Taste: Roasted dark chocolate malts, toffee, coffee, smokey, slightly sweet. Same with the nose. Dark brown, semi clear, tan head with a ring of nice lace. Full body. Pair well with my tasty burger.

Poured on tap at the Rochester Mills Brewery. Has a jet black color with a slight off-white head. Both the aroma and the flavor are all malts. The beer claims a hop finish, but I don’t detect that. Body feel is decent, a touch light. This is a pretty good porter.

on tap@ the brewpub, served in a pint glass. notes are from last new year's.
a - deep, dark brown with no head whatsoever. leaves a few small spots of lacing.
s - roast, chocolate, campfire.
t - roasted malt, chocolate notes, faint hint of mint, faint tree sap sort of bitterness. lacks depth.
m - heavier side of medium with lighter carbonation.
o - average in every way, goes down easy though. would order it again, but i'm in no hurry.

I just wanted one of these when I went to the brew pub. Porters aren't something I can drink too many of. It would be like chugging black coffee all night. But, anyway, coffee black appearance with a small tan head. Heavy aroma of roasted malt, some coffee, and a hint of chocolate. Taste refelected the same characteristics of the smell. But bitterness was in the taste. Not neccessarily bad bitterness, but bitterness. It was creamy and somewhat heavy, as a porter ought to be. I only had one... there are other beers here to try.
