V-Ouray Brewery is located on the main drag in the heart of the small mountain town. When I visited on a snowy and cold Sunday evening after Christmas, the tables and small bar were full, but I waited just two minutes to snag a seat the bar. The crowd was a subdued mix of tourists (mostly) and a few locals. The ceilings are low and the space feels small, but cozy rather than confined.

Q-I enjoyed both beers that I tasted, a pale and and IPA. Neither beer blew me away, but they were well-made and more modern than many small-town brewpub beers you find in the mountain towns. I did not try it, but they had also just tapped a Russian Imperial Stout that was getting glowing reviews from my bar cohorts that were tasting it.

Ser-The staff was very friendly and prompt. The bartender knew about the beers she was pouring and the pours were well done. My food arrived in a timely manner too. I think one of the brewers was hanging out behind the bar talking shop, which I always appreciate.

Sel-Ouray brewery is not going to overwhelm you with choice. I counted six beers on tap (no guests) of varying style. Don't come here looking for the next big thing either; the style spectrum was pretty conservative. There are no crazy fruited sours or obscure hop IPAs or marshmallow pastry stouts.

F-The menu leans toward burgers and traditional brewpub fare, e.g., hot wings. I had a veggie burger and it was pretty good. The fries, in particular, were tasty, but do not expect fine dining.

O-I would definitely stop here again if I'm passing through Ouray and felt thirsty.

Way too crowded, but it is a tourist town. I've been here twice, but I don't think I'd ever go a third time. The service wasn't good, the layout's not good, and the beers are only so-so, assuming they have any. How can you perpetually be out of your own house beers? All I wanted was some good local beer while the ladies shopped. Is that too much to ask?

If you're looking for some real fun, go down to Ourayle House (If they're there, and someone there knows what's going on.).

This place has so much potential and it all seems to be wasted.

First of all, you need to seat yourself, but they don't really let you know when you walk in. Then once you've found a seat one of their three levels (two interior and one upper patio), you need to walk up to their counter and order. Again, none of the staff let us know this, so we waited a while to figure out. It's kinda hard to figure out since they do have employees walking around serving food/beer and talking to patrons.

Once I knew to order up front, I walked up confidently and ordered a burger and a San Juan IPA (a OBC beer). They were all out of San Jaun IPA, but told me they had Ranger IPA on guest tap. Really? Why would I want Ranger? I lived in Fort Collins for 4 years, drank plenty of Ranger. But now I'm here in Ouray and I want to try your local beer. I don't make here very often so it would be cool if you could if you had it available. Since they were out of San Juan IPA, I ordered a mountainweisen, which was recommended to me by a friend, but they were out of that as well. So in the end, I order their Box Canyon Blonde. Can't decide what to do about the tip since you pay upfront, but I still hadn't had their food/beer.

The burger came and was extremely meh. The Blonde was not all that great.

There is still tons of room for another entrepreneurial brewer to come into Ouray and clean up. Tons of tourists and thirsty mountain climbers are looking for a better brewery than this one in Ouray.

There's nothing special or unique about this brewery. For it's setting, it's being significantly under used. The brew is next to undrinkable, aside from their Brown Ale. Ouray Brewing (OBC) is failing to capitalize on their setting and people natural draw to breweries.

The service was good aside from the near frantic head waiter. Prices were good and (typical brewpub) food was good too. I'd go back, but with very low expectations. There's not many food options in Ouray which is why OBC needs to step their game up.

this place is situated right in the heart of quaint old ouray, colorado. this is a cool and unsung brewpub, a super unique building, three levels, with the third being a wonderful drinking deck with panoramic mountain views and great vibes. quintessentially mountain town colorado, gorgeous and mellow. they had maybe five or six beers on tap, not a huge selection, but the two i drank were both excellent. a purple haze porter and their staple ipa, neither particularly adventurous, but well crafted. i could have sat out there all day and night. the service was fine, but the place was empty so no too taxing. prices were fair and they were liberal with the samples as well. this place has an atmosphere like no other and is a must stop when driving through that part of the state. i didnt spend hardly anytime inside, but it feels like a cool building, its the upper deck thats where its at, an amazing setting to have a couple beers in, maybe even best in the state! i look forward to my next pint here!

A tasty, local brewhouse with well-balanced and highly drinkable offerings. The saison was our top pick - subtle spiciness, and not too light for the 40-ish temperatures outside.

And I must mention the surprisingly creative and tasty eats - picked vegetables aka American kimchi - yum; capicola ham and salami panini with an olive/caper tapenade; and artichoke/shrimp soup...

And did I mention the super-friendly staff and bar complete with swings (instead of your plain-old bar stools)??

Highly recommended, especially after a hike in the surrounding mountains and a soak in the hot springs.

Cheers!
