On January 30, 2017, company owner Frank Yarusso passed away aged 79. His family did not maintain contracts with any of the known contract brewers or co-packagers, and his Blue Diamond portfolio (brands) is assumed to be defunct.
The Blue Diamond Brewing Company website went dark a short while after Mr. Yarusso's passing.
Additional Background:
The Blue Diamond and Brewer's Cave brands had their origin in the late 1990s, each being an independent "Family" of more than one brand of beer. Both families of beer were contract-brewed and packaged at the Minnesota Brewing Company --formerly Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co.-- in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
When Minnesota Brewing (c.f. "MNBrew") closed in 2002, both Blue Diamond and Brewers Cave brands were unavailable for several years. In 2006, Frank Yarusso, owner of the Blue Diamond brands had the brewing and co-packaging contract shifted to Cold Spring Brewing Company. At this same time, the Brewers Cave brands were re-introduced, also brewed and co-packaged at Cold Spring.
In 2015, several brands were added to the Blue Diamond portfolio, albeit brewed and co-packaged by the Minhas Craft Brewery in Monroe, WI.
