this beer is a sweet sugar bomb. as is another style of a weaker proportion called the karmelowy, or caramel beer. you can guess what the one malt in there is. caramel malt. and this beer is a high alcohol of that.

pour is like a quad actually with a smaller head of about a finger and half of off white on brown murky. nose is caramel notes and sweetness... some earth. not much in the face of the sugar bomb that the beer is. palate is sweet. like flat coca cola but more. its malt in that sense that i can feel the maltose in there. but the beer is completely one dimensional sweet sweet non fermentables. no inconsistencies otherwise though... no bitter finish either. this is like a scotch ale with a brick in it.

This was a 330ml bottle brought to me from Warsaw. It says Piwo Ciemne Mocne on the label. Interestingly, it also suggests a temperature of 2 - 16 degrees; that's quite a spread!

I poured it into a Belgian chalice, and it looked quite appealing; a dark brown brew with a tint of red topped with a bubbly tan head. The head thinned quite quickly.

The smell was very good; dark fruits/berries and maybe with a touch of coffee. Reminded me a little of Chimay blue. So it promised great things to come.

Not so, I'm afraid; the taste was overwhelmingly sweet and more-so as it warmed. It grew tiresome after a while. I would not fancy having a second bottle.
