this is not fruited, just spontaneous fermented beer, from what i understand, on tap at the source, what a cool place to post up and drink a beer, well worth the drive from barcelona, to say the very very very least about one of my favorite beer experiences of all time. this is a little bit orange, honey colored, shiny and without any real head, a little flat in feel but not entirely, quite sour, but also radically interesting on the ferment, definitely blended with at least some part of it very long aged it seems, truly unique stuff right here. the nose is woody, more malty than a lot of lambic types, some richer crystal in play, some light oxidation too suggesting its age, some neat bretty funk and some sweet orange peel among all the acid, very interesting, a touch sweet even overall to my senses, clover flowers, esoteric white wine, slate minerality. the flavor is all of this, some real old oak and vinous layers to it, a decent malt body softening some of the sourness, sweet citrus and tangy minerals, an almost olive brine thing, some bretty wildness to the ferment as well, a nutty wrinkle, and a heartiness not commonly found in this sort of thing. its bizarre but its addicting, and it opens up a lot as it warms, a patient drinker is well rewarded. so much terroir in their beers here, and this one is maybe the best showcase of that of the beers we had, and to sit out in the lawn taking in a gorgeous spring afternoon on this property is a magical experience. the highlight of my trip to spain with my wife, no question. this place is heaven.
