330ml bottle from Warners at the Bay, poured into a Mikkeller tulip.
Black appearance, no lightening around the edges. Has a tan head of foam that falls quickly.
Smell is initially of tar, ash, char and coffee, but this only lasts a little while. Then it becomes caramel.
Tastes of liquorice, roasted malt, char as well. Caramel as it warms.
Full body for the 5.1% ABV, lasting backtaste to it that impedes drinkability. Not a lot of ending bitterness to speak of.
Decent stout by Ekim. Nothing amazing, but plenty worse around the traps. Not super drinkable, but ballsy enough.

(not 100% sure if "English" Stout here as added)
Interesting find as a one-off brew here from Ekim. Even have a pre-printed label with ABV printed, not hand-written as is their usual wont. Wonder how big the batch is, coming from the Happy Goblin brewery? Check their web-site for the pix for an old-style operation!!!
Pours black 'n' tan one finger head that fades. No lacing at all, shame.
Aromas of some caramel, roast malts, some treacle.
Taste is caramel, some smoke, the typical stout up-front 'schmack' on the tongue, with a dry finish
Light in mouth.
Overall the components above don't indicate anything special. However, the whole here makes a very drinkable and enjoyable beer. Not too heavy, but really balanced for having a few....
Nice one!
