Quite a rich take at a Belgian Dark Ale, with an intriguing balancing touch of honey.
Presentation: 750 cl. green capped bottle. Red wax seal on the side from where a descriptive label hangs. It offers a good description of intent, ingredients, and elaboration, alongside cellaring and serving notes. Seems to have been contracted to Cervesa els Maginets S.L. and or being a part of the Clandestines operation. Shows Alc. by Vol. (8%), and best by date (23.0511). Served in a tulip glass.
A - Dark amber with a generous frothy head, medium retention, good surface memory and faint lacing.
S - Sugary sense, a bit fruity and yeasty.
T - Malty range, caramel, unfermented sugars are nicely woven with a distinct raw honey touch that ties it a nicely accompanying touch of hops. Fruity touches throughout and the honey touch that was really not present on the nose
M - Medium body with medium-high carbonation not overwhelming but nicely carrying the sweet profile to a gentle dry finish.
D - The way it comes together this flows rather nicely. On a couple of instances its suggest a bit of an imbalance but it is just a brief and nice swing given the quick way it comes back together.
Notes: Nice surprise from the emerging craft movement in Catalonia. This is good quality and points in the right direction. Well worth picking it up if it comes ones way. Thank your Rafa!
