Served to me at the brewery as part of a 4 beer flight. Very dark in body color. Some malty sweetness,a bit of nuttiness. very smooth with a good head and nice lacing. This is a surprising Scottish Ale, a style that is usually more assertive. The abv is well blended.

Nutty, toasted malt, earthiness and some coffee bitterness. Dark, chocolate malt sweetness. More of a brown ale than a Scotch. Pretty good for what it is.

Had while at the Northampton brewery.
A- looked a little dark for a wee heavy. Very little head with no lacing.
S - A little smokey. Just a very slight almost undetectable hop note. A little alcohol smell.
T - Smokey and a little alcohol. Roasted malt and a touch of scoth flavour.
M - Very smooth and goes down easy.
D - Not a bad wee heavy very drinkable. With 8% ABV you need to be careful or it will bite the next day.

On tap at NHB.
Clear dark brown...almost no head.
Smells slightly of smoke, malt and alcohol hint.
Tastes sweet , malty...some nice, light phenol and alcohol.
Hops don't bite , but are present. Taste opened up as it warmed.
Medium mouthfeel, carbonation low.
All in all , a pretty good wee heavy.

Pours beautiful dark translucent amber brown with a short creamy head. Decent lacing. Smells mainly of roasted barley, a hint of caramel sweetness. Taste follows with moderately bitter roasted barley, not much sweetness. Mouthfeel is rather smooth, there is some lingering of bitter aftertastes though. As the brew warmed up a bit, it became very alcoholy and astringent. Eh. I'd like a more balanced beer. This one was OK though.

This one pored a deep, rich brown. There was a bit of a tan head and lacing to go along with it. The aroma had a slight peat and smokiness to it. The taste had a good roasted barley taste, which also had hints of the peat and smokiness. There was also a slight sweetness to the taste.
