At NOHO Brewery I had been sitting at the bar with my wife and Chris the head brewer came in and he was releasing some of a fresh batch of Raspberry Golden Lager. I am not one that enjoys too many different fruit/vegetable beers but I did like this one. It is there Gold Lager with some raspberry extract added in for some flavor. It pours a nice clean yellowish golden color with a light orange hue mixed in there. It is light bodied and well carbonated. Clean white head that left a slight lace in the pint. Smell is of pale malt with subtle raspberry and hints of hops in the back of the nose. Mild hint of some roast malt. The taste is smooth and enjoyable with a good mouth feel. Raspberry flavors are found up front followed by the mild tone of some roast or chocolate malt and slight hop flavor in the aftertaste. Nice change of pace with the flavor. Almost reminds me of a chocolate raspberry candy. Not a beer that I would drink consistently but it is light enough and has an enjoyable flavor. This beer has a creative and distinct taste that I would recommend giving it a try.
