Draught @ Brewpub: This one pours a cloudy, lighter brown/amber color. There was almost no tan head on it, but it leaves a little lacing. Hints of roastiness and maybe some chocolate to the nose. The taste is good. A little bit of a hop bite to it. Good malt body, notes of grapefruit and roastiness.

Pours a medium brown color with a small tan head, a bit too light for a Black IPA. The aroma was mostly of dark roasted malts, with some grapefuit hops.
Taste was suprisingly more hop-based than roasted malt, but still a bit low in the hop flavor for the style. However, the bitter hop aftertaste was present. Mouthfeel was smooth and creamy, almost stout/porter like. Drinkability was good, but it just didn't seem like a true Black IPA, almost like it was an English Black IPA, if there was ever such a thing.

Supposedly, this is a black IPA, but since we can't choose that style yet, I'll put it here. Black it was not, as what arrived was a deep yellow in color, clear, with a thin layer of head that left quite a bit of lacing on the glass.
Aroma, however, was indeed of dark malts. It came as quite a surprise... I wouldn't have expected it. Grassy hops were also prominent.
Taste was initially of bitter hop resins, then milder medium bodied malts. Didn't taste that dark. Wasn't totally balanced, and it was rather one-dimensional.
Mouthfeel was good, smooth and creamy. I liked it, although it didn't seem to fit completely.
Drinkability was better than average. I liked it, and of the beers I had, this was possibly my favorite.
