I went to this brewery looking for Black Kat Stout. After being informed that winter is the only month it is not produced, I decided to go with the Oatmeal Stout. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Very dark, nice head, lovely smell and a surprisingly pleasent taste. I love Stouts ( Guinnes in my veins) and this was surprising because of its lightness, yet I still liked it. I usually go for heavy tasting Stouts but loved this lighter taste. Good malt taste and a Stout I could continue to drink. I was driving, so one and done. The barkeep commented that The Northampton Brewery is the oldest brewery east of the Mississippi. I have to check out the accuracy of that statement.

No fancy name for this one, they just called it like it was. And that's all they needed to do. Poured black, with a wipsy head. The taste was spectacular, roasted caramel, a great malt taste and that certain something I only detect in an Oatmeal stout. By far the best brew in the place, I'm hoping they keep it year round.
