On tap at Wolf Creek Brewing in Valencia, CA.
Described as Surfin' Monks aged in bourbon barrels for 3 months.
Pours a murky dark orange-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, toffee, citrus zest, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel, brown sugar, citrus zest, bourbon, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of wood bitterness and astringency on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer with a nice barrel aged aroma, but there is a fairly harsh wood astringency from the barrel aging that detracts from the taste.
Serving type: on tap.
