On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.
Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Thick rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, earth, dirt, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with earthy malt and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a spice taste that is slightly better than the aroma.

At wolf creek- served in a snifter. Deep brown with pretty good mocha head that rebuilds quickly. Smell is sugary with a hint of spice. Taste is sweet up front followed by a nice cinnamon spice then a slight hop bitterness and a clean aftertaste. Mouthfeel is slightly thicker than I thought it would be. Very drinkable. Great beer- wolf creek is really turning it around and putting out great stuff!

Consumed on tap at brewery 12/10/07.
Consumed in a taster glass. Very dark brown, no lacing, minimal head. No active carbonation in evidence. No aroma to speak of. Nutmeg and cinnamon mix mildly with some yeasty, bready flavors. No bitterness, no aftertase.
Unremarkable.
