Consumed at the brewery on April 7th, 2013. Reviewed from notes. 8.7% ABV.
Beer is a very dark brown with mahogany highlights. No head to speak of, just a thin tan foam ring around the edges of the glass. Some sheeting.
No aroma at all.
Flavor is roasty and bitter. Not especially sweet though there's a spicy, slight tartness lurking in there. Coffee and bitter chocolate aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slight creaminess.
Really, for an oatmeal stout, there doesn't seem to be a trace of it in the aroma, flavor or mouthfeel. Unremarkable.

On tap at Wolf Creek Brewing in Valencia, CA.
Billed as an oatmeal stout aged on cacao beans.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film of film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, toasted malts, and cocoa nibs. Taste is much the same with an intense cocoa flavor on the finish. There is a high amount of roasty cocoa bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but it's very roasty and bitter in the flavor.
