Growler obtainer via trade with konabrewer. Thanks for the opportunity. 06 vintage.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" beige head above the clear brownish copper brew. Head dwindles to a thin layer of small bubbles, with lots of slow-falling lacing. Aroma is leathery and sweet, with some peat influence, perhaps. Tastes follows along the same lines, but with some dark fruitiness added to the mix, and a more prominent alcohol presence towards the end than previously indicated. It all comes together not unlike some sort of symphony. Mouthfeel is impressively smooth, and drinkability is kind of dangerous, since I have the growler beckoning and not enough time left before the 5AM wake-up call for work tomorrow. Hope I get to revisit it again, someday. On tap now, if you have the opportunity to get off-shore soon and on-island...

2005 release on-tap at Track 84 in Warwick, RI during the Offshore Night of Pints event, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep reddish brown color, with a short off-white head that fades at a decent rate and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The smell is of caramel, butterscotch, brown sugar & dark fruits, with a little bit of alcohol.

T: The taste is malty and sweet with a significant alcohol presence. The most prevalent flavors are dark fruit, caramelized malt & butterscotch.

M: Smooth, light carbonation, medium body, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Tasty and very light for the style with a good kick, this is after-dinner beer to sit and drink slowly.

Recently enjoyed on-tap at the brewpub with my lunch. Served in a snifter.

Deep mahagony/copper in color. Nearly flat in appearance with a slight island of film resting on top. Nose was very sweet up front with loads of caramel.

Very honey-sweetened tea-like flavor with a similar syrupy feel to it. Rather thick on the tongue. Loads of butterscotch and caramel. Candy sugar too. Very slight bit of heat from the alcohol but it was mostly concealed by the caramel flavors. Heavy, juicy texture makes this beer heavy on the palate and rather filling. The snifter was a perfect serving and I would really enjoy this beer with a fruit-type dessert.
