Draught @ Ct River Brew Fest: This one poured pretty much an amber color with an off white head with some lacing. There was some spiciness and grassiness to the nose. The tste is a bit of spiciness, malt and rye. Very nicely balanced. There was a small hop bite and dryness in the finish. Even my wife liked this one.

On-tap at Track 84 in Warwick, RI, left over from the Night of Pints event, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a thin foamy white head that fades slowly and leaves a decent lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of fruity malt & some hops. It’s simplistic but very pleasant.

T: As simplistic as the smell is, the taste has good complexity. A sweet fruity taste hits first and displays the malty character. Then there’s an abrupt transition into a healthy hops flavor, which leaves a mildly bitter after-taste.

M: Very smooth & crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, very good finish.

D: Very tasty, goes down very easy and isn’t filling, has a good kick, it’s a beer well worth staying with for the whole evening.

I known the secret ingredient, and I ain't sharing. Spoke with Brewer Matthew who gave us a top-notch tour of the brewery and he shared the secret ingredient, which I was sworn to secrecy upon learning. The beer poured a rich ruby brown with a finger-width of head on top that took its jolly time to recede. Nose was a very pleasant combination of sweet hops and slightly sour rye. Malts provide a nice bottom sheet of sweetness to this beer and provide great balance for the slightly sprucey hops and the sourish/bitterish rye. The rye comes through even stronger in the slightly dry finish. I first tasted this beer before Brewer Matthew took us on a tour and my girlfriend and I could tell there was something else present in the finish but were not able to place it. As soon as Brewer Matthew shared the secret ingredient, we smacked our heads and realized that is what the mysterious flavor was. Comes through great in a finish and is quite unexpectedly good in beer. Great flavors in this beer, I went back a second time just to drink this beer again.

Had a couple of samples of this at the ABF in Boston. Golden colored malt with a bubbly head - even in a sample glass. Earthy and slightly grassy hop aroma that is accentuated by that "rye thang". Hay like malt flavors meld together with slightly grassy hops at first, then you notice that "rye thang" again in the flavor. Finishes off somewhat dry and cottony due to the rye and begs you to drink more. The only thing that could have made this beer better for me is a little more juicy hop aroma and flavor to go with the rye. A nice session beer that I hope makes its way into bottles some day soon. Damn I love rye.

A clean golden amber beer. Has a small creamy off white head and a good lace. There is a light grain aroma that fits nicely around the fruity hop character. The flavor starts with a malty note that has a clean dryness to it. Followed by a good bittersweet hop finish that is quite refreshing.
