On-tap 3/19/2011 at Track 84 in Warwick, RI, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a large beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains roasted malts, dark fruit, coffee, a bit of chocolate and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of dark fruit, chocolate and a bit of coffee. The malt character is hearty but thin for the style. The hops presence is mild and complementary but doesn't create much balance as there doesn't seem to be much harmoniousness amongst the flavors. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
D: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, decent representation of style, decent beer but there are better in the style.
