Copenhagen 8/5 2020. 33 cl little chubby bottle from Belgisk Bryg, Emdrup Mosevej, Kbh. NV. De Graal's usual design with a rendering of a big goblet (for drinking beer I presume) this time in purple.
Pours unclear yellow with a medium big white head. Fairly stable. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a firm sweet malt base and a fairly strong herbal odor
Sweet pale malts, bread and cardboard. Strong odor of ginger with a minty streak. Subtle yeast touch. Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a light sweet undercurrent. Finish is cool, minty and herbal.
Avoiding overdoing the ginger thing - and without being artificial this is a solid take on a ginger-flavored beer. A solid ABV helps as well.
