A 330ml bottle with a BB of Jan 2012, so it's well out of date. Purchased from a Belgian webshop ages ago and stored in my garage. I'm a bit unclear about the brewers of this beer - the label says Brouwerij Lupiline but also that it is brewed at the Brouwerij de Graal. There is no info online about Lupiline, so I wonder if they have ceased to exist as a company. The label features a bizarre image of a fairy surrounded by hops.

Poured into a Delirium chalice. A hazy, light golden-amber hue with an energetic column of carbonation rising through the centre of the glass. Yields a massive head of creamy white foam with superb retention; this slowly reduces to a thick surface layer. Aroma of fruity, earthy yeast esters with notes of apricot, peach, mild citrus and subtle banana. Slightly sweet. Faint stewed leaves in the background, and a warming whiff of solvent/alcohol.

Tastes of dry, earthy yeast with a dry finish. Light fruit notes: apricot, peach, mild citrus, blossom and faint honey. A faded aromatic hop quality followed by stewed hops and a hint of biscuity malt. A whiff of alcohol in the background, and little bitterness to speak of. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with a decent light body. Quite astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of earthy, fruity yeast notes and stewed hops.

Interesting, though it tastes rather old. To be honest, I'm surprised it's held up as well as it has - I bet it was great when fresh. It looks lovely, with lively carbonation and a large, stable head. Aroma and flavour are dominated by yeast esters, though some of the light fruity notes may come from aromatic hops - it's hard to tell. The taste has a mild but pervasive stale character. Pleasing mouthfeel; dry and tingly. It goes down quite well - I don't know if this is still made but I imagine that a fresh example would be well worth your time.
