Undated can, but my liquor store man said it just came in.

Poured hazy straw with about an inch of head, really nice lacing.

Aroma is light, soft sweet fruity hops and a little bit of piney and floral at the end.

Taste is pillow soft but zesty, fruity and well balanced with the malt. A couple of my favorite hops in Simcoe and Amarillo paired up nicely once again.

Mouthfeel is medium with a clean finish.

Overall, I'd have to say this is a pretty great hazy. Raw oats, spelt, and barley combined with the best hop combo, very impressed with this brew and will be looking out for more offerings out of Brouwerij West.

Let's admit it sometimes we buy a pint of beer because of the can. This can from Brouwerij West was one of those. Alligator pours a light, murky, golden yellow with an off white, 1-finger head and nice lacing. Smell is candied fruit with orange, lemon, grapefruit, pear and pineapple with a bready malt characteristic. Taste is honey sweet up front that dominates, giving way to some other candied fruits with just a hint of hops.

Thanks to a fine human being for this 16 oz. can. Every time I see him he foists beer on me. Next time I’ll know. Next time.

The pour is pure NE. I wonder if we’ll know what that phrase means in 2021? Looks like smashed up mango or something. The nose is all sweet pine.

Alligator is on the under-attenuated spectrum of NE IPAs. The sweetness is out of control, with enough residual sugars to kill someone with sugar intolerance from twenty paces. You could put this in sippy cups & make some happy babies. Sugar, sweet sugar, injected sugar, followed by overwhelmed citrus & something something tropical. Thick. Blech.

Something appears to have gone wrong here. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too sweet & generally just terrible.

Poured from the can into a shaker pint, boo hiss. Canned September 10 2018.

Opaque but not hazy, with a body color glowing an almost banana bright yellow. Head is a nice three fingers and full of white bright cream and clumpy quality. Lots of chunk and ring lacing as well.

Mild but wonderful subtle hop aromas. Goes to a simple light tropical and flirts with green herbs and perfume like character. Has a gum-drop like candy smell that is real inviting.

Palate is a real nice surprise. Light chewy texture, but has a basic mouthfeel but doesn't stop a real impressive flavor. Complex soft earth and juicy tropical tones, mixing light mango and soft minty herbs in a wonderful palate. Juicy light finish with grass light and herbal green tasty aromatics to match.

Very nice IPA.

Got in a trade with RaulMondesi. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, no can dating. Pours very hazy golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, strawberry, mango, melon, citrus zest, wheat, white bread dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with amazing complexity and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, strawberry, mango, melon, citrus zest, wheat, white bread dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Absolutely zero bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, strawberry, mango, melon, citrus zest, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors. Minimal dryness and no cloying sweetness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and creamy/silky/grainy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is a fantastic NEIPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; extremely smooth and refreshing to drink with the lack of any bitterness. This is definitely one of the softest in the style I have had yet, drinks like a fruit smoothie. Huge orange juice vibrancy in the nose. Extremely juicy Simcoe/Amarillo hop showcase; with perfect oat/spelt/malt balance. Not overly sweet. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Look: Murky golden yellow, almost burnt in color. 2 fingers worth of head, with nice lacing.
Smell: Candied tropical fruits, light citrus with herbally hop presence. Nice smelling, just not aromatic.
Taste: Follows the nose. Loads of candied pineapple with some grapefruit, orange, tangerine, banana, apricot, peach, strawberry and passionfruit. Very nice tasting and extremely enjoyable. Hop presence is minimal but noted, tasting like lemongrass.
Feel: Medium in body and in weight, with low to moderate carbonation. Somewhat of a fizz on the tongue.
Overall: Very enjoyable and smooth drinking. I am loving what Brouwerij West is doing. I am grateful to have tried. Cheers!

Roar!!!!! Wait, what kind of sound do alligators make? Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! Back to the beer, I guess. Standard. Standard like the guy in the film Drive that gets blown to shit at the pawn shop. Anyway, the beer is standard like most hazys. Cloudy like a night on the town for Dylan Thomas, and tropical hoppy/yeasty like a tropical yeasty storm. More or less, meh.

Yellow, hazy, white foam.

Bright, grainy, tinge tart.

I was stoked to find these cans still around, then I tasted and realized how old they were. No pop but fruit still, honey sweetness but I'm not getting simcoe.

Thin.
