Poured out of a 16oz can (via 4/pks)—hadn't seen this beer around before/assume that it's a somewhat newer SKU...
Look: opaque, light straw/copper color,
Smell: largely stone fruit and tropical nose of pineapple, mango, red—and also—cashew apple, green sour straw candies, pine sap.
Taste: Leans more stone fruit than tropical, but retains a touch of juicy, underripe mango. A touch of salinity (salt water taffee—and confectionary; almost tapioca on the finish, but without any perceptible sweetness or viscosity). Balanced and well-integrated hops. There's a dense, but not overbearing grain/malt presence to help flesh out the mid-palate. Lingering and complex finish.
Feel: Intensity without excessive weight, which is my palate in a nutshell (maybe you can tell I come from the wine world). Driving bubbles/effervescence without distracting from the density or texture of the brew.
Conclusion: A great example of a contemporary [West Coast] New England IPA. Not necessarily sessionable, but an incredibly enjoyable tipple!
