On cask for Cask & Ye Shall Receive held at MacLeod Ale Brewing Company in Van Nuys, CA.
Pours an almost opaque brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, earth, red wine, Brett, funk, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly tart toast, earth, caramel, red wine, Brett, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with the Brett and red wine barrel aging covering up most of the base beer's characteristics.
Serving type: on cask.
