Good orange and amber color on this one, thin head. Aroma delivered on the simcoe claim, whoof. Taste confirms what was a corpus delecti issue at first.
Mouthfeel does a good job hiding the abv. Could be a bit too bitter at times, this isn't balanced, nor should it be. A good beer, gets in and does what it should with the simcoe.

Another iron fist unique selection tried at Churchill's Pub in San Marcos, CA. This was one of the better (if not best) Iron Fist offerings we had that evening. Comes out a honey like burnt amber and orange color that is a color you look for and often see when you are drinking a double ipa from San Diego County.
Aroma is definitely simcoe, it is bitter and astringent, but with a little more complexity and grapefruit notes.
Taste, once again, no doubt its simcoe. Plenty bitter, but not a one trick pony, light malt body, far from balanced, but balanced ipa's aren't what I'm looking for. Hides the alcohol quite well in the mouthfeel. Pulls down some pine notes to accompany the white grapefruit rind flavors. Somewhat abrasive, but enjoyable. I think this version is preferable to the regular Gauntlet.
