Deep rich copper colour with a moderate even layer of tan foam. Sweet caramel aromas with a malt backdrop. Thin bodied but it does carry a bit of flavour. Moderate bitterness.

This brew pours a dark chestnut hue with decentcarbonation that leaves behind a two finger head that quickly settles down to leave a layer and a rim of lacing, the smell is roasted malts, nuts and dark fruity hops, the mouthfeel is abit of a let down for as it is very lightly bodied and not well carbonated but does have some nice tastes of roasted malts, toasted bran, blood orange, toffee and finshes with a citrus zest light bitterness and overall i think the mouthfeel lets it down but very drinkable and reminds me abit of James Squire's Amber Ale.

Pours dark coppery ruby with a small head.
Nose shows chocolate, caramel, nutty malt and vanilla. Nice stuff.
Similar roasty characters as flavours with more nutty malt and noticeable coffee. Certainly on the roasty side of the amber ale style.
Body feels watery.

Bought from a bottle at Knopwood's Retreat in Salamanca.
Pours a burgundy or reddish-amber colour. Minimal head from the pour, even with some vigour applied. A little carbonation, but it's large bubbled and doesn't conduce the foam. Thin body. Looks pretty average.
Nose has a bit of malty grain, but very thin and light--a little roastiness is present, but it's fleeting. Also something green and organic, with a little bit of acidity. Not bad, but still, pretty average.
Taste is rather sweet but thin. Carob is dominant, giving a light watered-down malt character. Thin backbone, and very little body to it, although some sweet roast does come through on the back. It reminds me of dodgy black lagers, or poorly crafted dark ales. Bit of acidic black in the finish.
Not great. A poor example of the style. But where as a poor example of a pale lager would be utter shite, this does just end up "not great".

This pours a very murky dark brown with a centimetre or 2 of head which drops quickly.
Nose is dominated by sweet dark malts. Bit of caramel floating in there and the hops give a bit of a fruity note in the background.
The maltiness is even stronger on the palate. Getting just a touch of chocolate. Definitely more of a dark ale than an amber.
Is lighter in weight though so I could probably have a few more.
Quite like this. I think it would make a good food beer with some BBQ or roasted meats.
