29th Aug 2012 found me in the Ironbridge breweries only pub: ‘Ye Olde Fighting Cocks’, at Oakengates, a hand-pulled pint of this was duly drunk within.
Enjoyed it more than the bottle I reviewed back in Aug 2011: the cask version seems to have more about it in every way.
Light golden body with a full white head: the beer had to stand and be ‘topped-up’ such was the head size after pouring.
Hops dominate the nose, but a malt content is also ‘sniff able’ in the aroma.
The flavours in the mouth were again hop orientated but this time (unlike the bottled version) a pleasing malt element was present also. I found it uncomplicated but easy to drink and refreshing. Not too many ‘citrusy’ notes: a complaint I have about a lot of modern golden brews coming out of the UK breweries at the moment.
Body wise it was fine and the 4.4% ABV fitted in nicely with the overall feel of the beer.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
