Hand-pulled half pint at the 2012 Shrewsbury Beer Festival on 1st Nov. Chatting to the brewer (Dave) as I drank this and wrote my notes when he’d gone! Golden and clear with a thin white crown on top.
Dave used hops from both New Zealand and Australia in this brew (hence the name) and was complaining about the price of those hop varieties, but also saying he thought it was worth the expence.
Well the beer was certainly hoppy but UK and European hops would have produced something very close to this I’m sure. Spicy more than citrusy and fruity, which is unusual for Ironbridge beers, Dave tends to lean towards citrus flavoured light beers, this was light coloured but the hops didn’t add any lemon/grapefruit etc, etc notes to the brew.
Although it was hops all the way it wasn’t really extra bitter in taste, just a nice hoppy beer.
