13 Nov 2012 and I'm back at the brewery owned 'Fighting Cocks' in Oakengates: hand-pulled pint.
This is my first 'normal Wenlock Stout', the Oak Aged version was lovely and Dave the brewer told me he is in the process of brewing another batch of that for December.
Dark, as you'd expect with a tan coloured head that produced some good heavy lacing.
Semi-burnt, roasted malts rule the nose and taste: not as smooth as the Oak Aged but still very drinkable. Dark chocolate and ground coffee notes come through as the beer warms a little in the glass, nice.
