had a two ounce sample cup at the Untapped Beer Fest in Dallas. nicely hoppy, balanced with some pine and grapefruit. must better balanced than the IPA from another brewery i'd just sampled. i'll be looking for this beer locally. absolutely wonderful.

The beer looks and smells great. Orange/brown with pine and biscuit aroma. Nice soft head and decent lacing. The flavor is a little off though. It is good tasting but not great. Not quite balanced enough. It cuts into the sessionability of the beer. I think this beer would be well served by a stronger grain bill and then dry hopping. Too much bittering hops for the beer in its current constitution.

On tap at the brewery.

A - Nice amber orange, slightly hazy. One and a half fingers of off white head.

S - Great aroma of grapefruit, pine, and other citrus that I can't quite put my finger on.

T - Taste pretty much follows the nose, mainly grapefruit hops with a bit of piney / resiny flavor on the back end. Very nice citrus complexity. There's a lot of hop bitterness but also a good amount of sweetness.

M - Moderate body, moderate carbonation. Nothing too special here, but it gets the job done. It's well balanced.

O - I'm pleasantly surprised with Ranger Creek's IPA. Didn't know what to expect and I was surprised at how good this was. I'll be getting it again, and hopefully they'll start bottling this once they get the 12oz bottling line going.

IBU= 65

It is a stretch for me to call this an IPA even with the IBU count. A lot of this beer reminds me of a traditional Belgium or European beer with a must to it. Not my personal preference but if you enjoy more of a Belgium IPA this is an interesting try.
