This sunny bride is dry-hopped with American hops and special yeast that gives it a distinct flavor and aroma of cloves, banana and other tropical delicacies.

The yeast used in this Hefeweizen delivers a very distinct flavor and aroma of banana and cloves. Sólveig (meaning: the one who is devoted to the sun) is dry hopped with specially selected American hops that yield a particularly hoppy aroma with hints of mango, passion fruit, grapefruit and other tropical delicacies.

Copenhagen 29/12 2020. 33 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. All green can simply stating the name of the beer in big white letteres and the number 25.

Pours opaque, hazy golden yellowish a mid-sized white head. Settles as thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is fairly intense with a strong lemonade-ish sweet odor mingling with sour, citric notes.Oranges and white sugar. Hints of banana. Tart notes of citrus.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick oily, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is fairly intense with a strong, sugary sweetness followed by a more moderate sourness. Aftertaste is sweetish. Lingers for a while. Semi-dry finish.

Decent and mild of the road Wheat beer with good intensity.

Sep. 2016: 330 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Cloudy pale yellow colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of fruity and piney American hops, also strong notes of cloves, hints of banana and citrus. Hoppy and wheaty flavour - the American hops dominate over the more subtle wheaty elements. Light bodied, dry. Bitter finish.

I tried this at Skol (aka Skal) restaurant in the Hlemmer Matholl in Reykavik. A 0.4L glass on draft cost ISK1400 (£9.35!).
It was pale, slightly cloudy, a bit zesty and sadly unremarkable.

6-pack of cans from Keflavik duty-free, drank throughout the week. Surprisingly a nice find! Enjoyed the nice balance of hops and wheat.

From a 12oz can.

Hazy looking body, thin head but good rings of lacing. Green hoppiness, bitter citrus punch. Has some guts but sure is an expensive import!

Can purchased on board my flight to Iceland.

This pours a golden clear honeyed orange, with a voluminous head, and lots of lacing.

Smells quite strongly of clove, with a banana, orange, white pepper, sweet wheat, and honey.

Whatever the house weizen yeast that Borg uses is strong as hell- there's so much clove and overripe banana. It's *almost* too much, but I still like it. There's a generous hop character to it, grapefruit and orange flavors mainly, with bitter wheat and bitter peppery grassiness. It gets better as it warms- the hop flavors open up and become more in sync with the intense weizen flavors. There's a smidgen of honey-like sweetness, too.

This has a nice creaminess to it, with a crisp bitter bite on the finish. The wheat-y-ness and the bitterness lingers for a while.

My first Icelandic beer on the trip. It's well crafted, but the lingering aftertaste and the almost *too* strong yeast flavor detracts. Still enjoyable, though.
