6-pack of cans from Keflavik duty-free, drank throughout the week. Surprisingly a nice find! Enjoyed the nice balance of hops and wheat.

From a 12oz can.

Hazy looking body, thin head but good rings of lacing. Green hoppiness, bitter citrus punch. Has some guts but sure is an expensive import!

Can purchased on board my flight to Iceland.

This pours a golden clear honeyed orange, with a voluminous head, and lots of lacing.

Smells quite strongly of clove, with a banana, orange, white pepper, sweet wheat, and honey.

Whatever the house weizen yeast that Borg uses is strong as hell- there's so much clove and overripe banana. It's *almost* too much, but I still like it. There's a generous hop character to it, grapefruit and orange flavors mainly, with bitter wheat and bitter peppery grassiness. It gets better as it warms- the hop flavors open up and become more in sync with the intense weizen flavors. There's a smidgen of honey-like sweetness, too.

This has a nice creaminess to it, with a crisp bitter bite on the finish. The wheat-y-ness and the bitterness lingers for a while.

My first Icelandic beer on the trip. It's well crafted, but the lingering aftertaste and the almost *too* strong yeast flavor detracts. Still enjoyable, though.

On tap at Micro Bar in Reykjavik, Iceland. Served in a tumbler glass.

Pours a cloudy light yellow body, one finger white head that takes a bit to die down. Bits and rings of lacing. Smells of bright citrus and grassy hops, for a while this is all I got from this. As it warms up, it gets a bit more wheat and bubblegum to it. But at first, it is a big hop punch; normally I don't mind that but it was a bit astringent at first. Flavour is similarly hop-forward, but the wheat, minerals and bubblegum esters come forward a bit more quickly than on the nose. However, it doesn't all play together very well, not as cohesive as I'd have liked. Mouthfeel is a lighter bodied one, good carbonation, a lot of bitter grassiness on the finish. As a whole, I think the balance wasn't there; either there was too much hop or there wasn't enough of the base weizen. It's very hoppy, very bitter but without the aromatics to complement the yeast and wheat, equally important aspects of a hefeweizen.

A: beautifully warm yellow and hazy, half inch white head

S: American hops and bubblegum.

T. Overly bitter for style. Strong taste of bubblegum, some cloves and the taste of hops are hidden by the bubblegum and clove character.

M: good carbonation, medium bodied.

O: interesting concept, but out of balance due to the bitterness. Bottle description does say American hops but most hop character is hidden by the strong yeast character. It's a seasonal summer beer but not thirst quenching enough for a hefe.
