This beer was poured into a crystal beer mug and the color is a dark brown with hints of red when held into the light. The beige head builds with a good pouring and dissipates with leaving some lacing on the glass. Very inviting beer for the eye.
The smell hints upfront some fruit like banana, prunes and a little smokiness. Honey and caramel is also present.
Tasting the beer those same flavors are for the most part confirmed. Up front a fruity note with banana and prune, immediately being checked by some very delicate smokiness, ending again with a sweet note like caramel.I find this a very drinkable beer and I am glad that the Baying Hound Aleworks have created this delicious porter. I certainly will buy this beer again and will look out for more of this brewery.Great job!

A: Since it's bottle conditioned and I do not like yest in my beer, I poured it carefully down the side of the glass producing no head.
S: Perhaps a slight smokey odor can be detected.
T: It starts with a muted smokey taste and ends with a dark cherry chocolate flavor at the back of the palate.
M: It is a little watery. Could definitively benefit from some oats in the grist.
D: It should be labeled as a smoked porter. I like it and have purchased it again.

A - pours a dark brown with a tan head that dissipates to nothing. No lacing to speak of.
S - Slightly toasty roasty smell. Lady at the store said this was a smoked porter, but I'm not sure that's true. I get a bit of smoke but nothing significant really. A sweet, honeylike odor as well. Not unpleasant but it is the major portion of the smell. Fruity pruny smell as well.
T - Pretty watery. A bit of roasted malt character, a touch of smoke. Slight hoppy hints but nothing too major. Definitely not unpleasant like the previous beer from Baying Hound Aleworks was.
MF - Fairly clean, lighter than expected and pretty tingly.
DB - Very easy drinker especially considering ABV and supposed smokiness.
Not unpleasant but wouldn't buy again. (EDIT: I might if I came across it again, but I wouldn't actively seek this out especially at current price point)

Pours a moderate brown color with a thin tan head and just a tiny touch of light lace before a thin collar forms and collects what is left of the head. The nose is some slight chocolate with a fairly-dominant smoke character. The flavor is mostly smoke with a bit of chocolate and roast there as well. Smokey feel and body is a bit light. Fairly quaffable for the style, though nothing too special. I would try this again, but wouldn't seek it out.
