This quenching red summer ale is brewed with premium UK malts, bittered with Columbus hops and finished with Perle hops for flavor. Crystal rye malt imbues crisp complexity and a unique red color (no caramel or other artificial colors here). A perfect session beer for the summer!

Served on-tap at Moe`s Tavern in Mass.

Appearance is a light-murky brown color with a finger of head to it. Taking in the aroma, I smell smoke, malts and rye. It has a taste of grain fields, more rye, light spice thrown into it too. Mouthfeel is low, finishes with some more of that smoke in the aftertaste. Overall, a slightly above average beer, but not as good as many other selections available this time. But while in the Berkshires, it was nice to sample a brew from the local area.

Served on tap at Brouwerij Lane in Brooklyn, NY

A: Pours a clear dark copper in color with significant amounts of visible carbonation (almost as much carbonation as you would expect to see in a German Hefeweissen). The beer has a two finger tall dark beige head that continued to grow after the beer was brought to our table (it grew to about one inch above the top of the glass and was almost like a mushroom cap) - this beer had phenomenal head retention qualities. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of rye spiciness.

T: There is a very light toasted malt flavor that is quickly dominated by the moderate rye spiciness. The rye spiciness is sharp but does not linger.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin.

O: Very refreshing and super easy to drink on a hot summer afternoon in an un-air conditioned beer shop. Definitely sessionable and enjoyable since the rye flavors are not hidden in this beer (like they far too often are, unfortunately).

On-tap at Brouwerij Lane, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is clear copper in color and has a high amount of visible carbonation (similar to what you would expect from a hefeweizen). It poured with a two finger high beige head that kept on growing above the glass, eventually resembling a dome like shape like a used eraser on the end of a pencil.
S: There are light to moderately strong aromas of spicy rye in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has light to moderately strong flavors of spicy rye; the spiciness does not linger through the finish.
M: The beer is light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate to high amount of carbonation.
O: The light-bodied nature and low alcohol content of this beer makes it very easy to drink—I would have no problem drinking several of these on a hot summer day.
