Having CANpleted CANother brewery horizontal, now it is on to the next victim, er, brewery. Terrapin may have been sold to a corporation, but they have always been rather good to me. For insCANce, I received an erroneous E-mail from them & when I received an apology, I requested an embroidered cloth patch to salve the wound. They sent it forthwith! Onward.
From the CAN: "Where in the world is Krunkles?"; "Follow the ever-changing adventures of Krunkles with his CREATIVE IPAs from around the globe!"; "Panama Krunkles Pineapple - Papaya IPA"; "Continuing his world brewing tour, Krunkles is back with another fruit-forward IPA. 'Panama Krunkles' blends the tropical juiciness of pineapple and papaya for this Central American-inspired beer."
I Crack!ed open the vent, gave it a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass, watched as it formed two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head. I got the feeling that it was not going to fade any time soon so I stepped away. When I returned, I was met with loads of lacing and a glassful of Amber-colored (SRM = > 7, < 9) beer with NE-quality clarity. 8=O Nose made me laugh uproariously. Pineapple?!? This smelled like straight-up papaya! Holy …! 8=O Mouthfeel was medium. The taste had a more assertive pineapple presence than on the nose, but it remained primarily papaya. Mmm. Slowly, a pineapple upside-down cake/caramel flavor beCAN to emerge, but papaya was the star of this show. I have to applaud them (again) for their judicious use of the malt(s) as they could have easily gotten carried away & marred the fruit flavors, which seemed to be their focus. My ongoing bugaboo was that it lacked bitterness while remaining dry. Finish was dry, but I was beginning to feel a hops jones coming on. YMMV.

I like it a lot. You really get the pineapple flavor and the smell comes through as well! I got it in a variety pack and given the opportunity I would get again.

Appearance: Clean amber, with a off-white head and nice web of lace.
Aroma: Amazing tropical fruit.
Taste: Juicy fruity hops, and a malty balanced finish. Very pleasing and tasty tropical fruit IPA.

A: Slightly hazy orange color, large off white head, good lacing
S: I get the pineapple and papaya, caramel
T: I get the tropical hops up front but there is a really nice malt background, caramel and bread to balance it out
M: Medium
O: A really quality IPA, nice balance with some really exotic tropical flavors that you dont get everyday. I dont get the artificial flavor feel from this like I have with some other tropical IPAs.

Best by 8/8/19. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with nice clarity and has bubbles racing upwards; fluffy eggshell white head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are tropical and have pineapple leading the way. Some bread and crackers. Malts are there. The flavors basically follow the nose. The flavors are pretty clean, crisp and refreshing. More pineapple leading the way along with some hints of mango. Some coconut in the mix. Lots of fresh grass. More bread and crackers. Moderate bitterness. Malts do their thing without dominating. Finishes juicy and dry at the same time. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's sharp, crisp, smooth and easy to drink.
This is a pretty solid IPA. The pineapple shines and doesn't come off as artificial. This one drinks like a beer and not "juice". It's enjoyable and fun to drink. Well done.

12oz can into snifter IPA glass
Look: This beer is a dark golden hue with a decent head that sticks around for a good amount of time. It is extremely carbonated; so much so that it actually made a little upwards spinning water spout in the glass. Also, the lacing is good.
Smell: The smell is very citrusy, floral with a huge fruity smell wafting up. Papaya, pineapple, oranges, and grapefruit. Surprisingly, however, there is a maltiness to it.
Taste: The taste is sweet and floral like malt up front that fades into a nice, settling fruity bitterness in the back. The pineapple and papaya are definitely there, there is no denying that.
Feel: The feel is good. It is effervescent, Light, and at 6.5% ABV it has a dry enough finish to balance out the sweetness.
Overall: I have to admit this is my third can of this. I didn’t like it so much at first but it’s grown on me. It’s definitely more of a beer that is fruity enough that I could see non beer people enjoying. But, it’s also beer like enough that it would be very enjoyable on a hot day on the beach or in the pool. I probably wouldn’t pay for this alone, but coming in a variety pack it isn’t bad.
