Clear light gold, foamy white head recedes fairly quickly, only a hint of a head remains after the first sip or two; Has a pretty good crisp smell; Medium bodied flavor, mildly hoppy aftertaste; Moderately carbonated; Not bad, not great.

This is the fourth in a Terrapin IPA sampler. My ratings of them ranged from 3.35 to 3.59. I've certainly had worse beers, but I think I'm not a great Terrapin fan.

Look: Clear amber gold, light slow rising visible carbonation after the pour. An inch head that is well retained. Thick lacing.
Smell: Floral aroma that really comes out once the beer temperature is over 50.
Taste: Tastes like tropical fruits. There is an unfamiliar taste. Since it says agave IPA on the can I'm going to assume that's what it is. Plenty of piney-citrus bitterness
Feel: Clean feel. Fine champagne-like carbonation. Dry finish.
Overall: First impression is good. The more I drink this the more I like it. I think the agave took some getting used-to.

Clearly Terrapin enjoys what they do and they like to have fun; especially with their IPAs. L: honestly; it’s a rarity but I’m drinking this one from a Solo cup so I giving it a vague yellowish orange color. The white head diminishes after a few seconds. S: citrusy, sweet, sort of tropical. T: citrus, light hoppy notes, some sweetness near the end with only a fraction of the bitterness of their other regular IPAs. F: there’s plenty of carbonation in this medium bodied beer. O: even though I’m drinking this on 1/31/20, I am a fan of this beer for summertime at the lake. Goes down easily, not too high in ABV, and I suspect that many who think they don’t care for IPAs might tolerate this one, although my wife made her regular IPA face after her sip. Nevertheless, Terrapin again has a drinkable IPA, doesn’t take itself too seriously, and gives us something to have fun with. Kudos for being willing to just have a good time at the brewery so we can have a good time at the lake, beach, or backyard.

This is a 120z. can poured into a Terrapin pint glass. The beer is an orange hazy brew with a thin cap of foam. The carbonation appears to be very light.
The aroma is a nice sweet citrus and just a touch of pine.
The taste starts sweet and ends with the dry, tart IPA finish. I like the fruity flavor, the agave and pear, I guess.
The feel is smooth, almost creamy. This is an easy enough beer to drink, refreshing, not as bitter as some IPA flavors.

These guys at Terrapin have some serious haters. I truly admire there brews, Sensor Krunkles is no exception. Taste is happy by goes down fairly easy for a solid 6.5% Abv. Hints of pear and agave?? Ok so the agave thing might be a gimmick tho I don't really know wgat agave is exactly. A step up from the session in ABV but similar taste, just a bit heavier. But highly underrated IPA.

C- / BELOW AVERAGE

***
08/20/19 CAN:

"Tropical agave IPA." "Fruited IPA." "Ale brewed with natural flavors and with natural flavors added." 6.5% ABV.

Vibrant gold body. Off-white ~2cm head. ~4 minute retention.

AROMA: Pale malt/2-row sweetness. Floral hop aromatics. Hints of hop oils. Juicy sweetness. I wouldn't know this was brewed with agave if I encountered it in a blind tasting.

Doesn't seem as artificial as most beers I've had with so-called "natural flavors added" (i.e. artificial flavours).

TASTE: Matches the aroma. Has a very shallow depth of flavour. Very simple and straightforward for a fruited IPA, with hop pungency on par with a hoppy pale ale or so-called Session IPA/extra pale ale. There's not much hop bitterness here, and the fruity sweetness is center stage, not the hop flavours per se.

TEXTURE: A bit sticky. Smooth, wet, refreshing, medium-bodied, a bit overcarbonated, and slightly oily.

Not astringent, scratchy, rough, or otherwise problematic.

OVERALL: A drinkable but hum-ho attempt at an IPA. The style is so oversaturated in the U.S. that you really have to bring more to the table to stand out. I'd sooner buy plain old Lagunitas IPA over this, and that's not only cheaper but it has wider distribution. The agave gimmick doesn't amount to much either.

Meh.
