A - The beer pours with a thin film of light brown bubbles. The body is dark brown and clear.
S - Notes of vanilla and oak with some light roasted malt. Spicy pine hops and some slight barrel funk.
T - Brown flavor of dry caramel, combined with oak and wine tannins. Some acrid carbon in the finish.
M - Medium-thick body, low carbonation, and a dry finish. Pretty astringent.
D - Very distinct, this smells better than it tastes. The cask aging has had a huge impact on this beer mostly in the form of wine flavors, with little contribution from the bourbon. The oak brings out a lot of the acrid flavor inherent in the brown malt of the base beer. The barrel funk clashes a bit with the overall character of the base beer. This was an interesting experiment, but I can't say I'm upset that I won't have the chance to have it again.
