There were only 2 other customers when I stopped in on a snowy, early evening in February. The interior is all dark wood and the atmosphere definitely lends itself to conversation. Not an extensive draft list, but they have some good local brews. It's tucked in a residential neighborhood well away from the city center, but worth the trip in my opinion and there are a few other bars nearby.

And finally The Avery has been added to Beeradvocate. Good luck trying to find this place (no sign), but when you do you'll realize how cool of a joint this place is.
The owner, J.R. is very friendly, is a top knotch bartender and is continually looking to add new craft ales to the tap and bottle list.
Make sure you use the light under the bar (this place is dark!) to read the beer list as you will find beers like the following on tap this week - Fuller's Mr. Harry, Heavy Seas Prosit, Widmer Hefeweizen, McNeill's Extra Amber, Loose Cannon and Brooklyn Detonation.
Trust me when I say this place is a hidden gem. Keep in mind that there is no food served here. My wife absolutely loves it for its velvet chairs and funky vibe. And as a beer geek, I'm always pleasantly surprised by the beer list.
