BLOND BEER – HOPPY & FRUITY – TOP FERMENTED!
Meteor IPA a new recipe delivering upfront but balanced hoppy notes backed by rich flavours. A classic top fermented IPA style brew (a tradition dating back to the 18th century when hoppier beers were brewed to sustain being shipped to India from the UK).
COLOUR: Dark straw and hazy.
NOSE: Very fruity (exotic fruits) thanks to the SIMCOE hop and a new alsatian “top secret” experimental hop.
FLAVOUR: Malty aromas are balanced by frank hops notes and laced with exotic fruits and mango notes. Delicate carbonation.
Bitterness (IBU) : 40
Colore (EBC) : 18
Mellowness (%P) : 3,5
ABV : 6,2%
Fermentation : High

Had Meteor's "IPA" at Ground Control, 81 Rue du Charolais, 75012 Paris, on draft into cloudy white plastic "pint" (50-cl./16.9-oz.) beer cup.
Pours lovely, deep, murky gold, with 1/2-finger near-white head, soon dissipating to a thin film, pulling only specks of lace down the glass. Aromas of Belgian yeast spice, big but dropping mild citrus, with sweet berries and mild melon aromas as warms. On tasting, begins with nice mild malt, then a bit of citrus, then lots of (Belgian) yeast spice, with melon showing as warms, before a crispy, drying but not specially bitter finish.
Assuming meant to be a Belgian IPA, an adequate, spicy example.

50 cl shiny can poured cold into an IPA glass. Fresh - canned 2 weeks prior to opening.
A fair foam appears atop hazy gold brew. Splotchy lacing. Short legs.
Unspectacular smell. Damn. Cardboard blonde, maybe?
Can promises ‘fruity hops’, calls out Simcoe and a ‘secret experimental hop’. There’s a little bit of something lemony happening, and everything else tastes soapy. A blot of bitterness emerges. Nada mas.
Medium oily mouth with medium carbonation.
Overall, this is all can color blah blah and no substance. Next!
