22 oz. bomber poured into an Allagash chalice.
A - Let's be honest, it looks like a stout in the glass. However, it took a very rough pour to get any kind of head. Does leave a modest amount of lacing.
S - Weird combination of burnt coffee and mildew. Someone else mentioned wet cardboard and that's surprisingly accurate. Maybe musty is the best word?
T - If you've ever gone on a brewery tour and tasted chocolate malt straight from the bag, you'll know how this beer tastes. The musty smell works its way into the taste as well.
M - Among the lightest bodied stouts I've ever drank, really missing that creamy fullness I like in stouts/porters.
D - The taste and smell are nothing spectacular, but it's so light in the mouth that you can finish the entire bomber without a problem. Like drinking the Bud Light of stouts.
Overall, this beer tastes like you're drinking tap water soaked in chocolate malt. It's a bad example of the style.

A - Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights when held to the light. It pours a massive 2 fingers of dark tan head that has a good retention and leaves nice lacing. It's pretty opaque, not much light coming through.
S - Some sweet malt comes through, with hints of chocolate, however it's over powered by a wet cardboard smell. I'm not sure if the 22oz I got was very fresh or bottled properly, b/c the smell seemed like it had potential.
M - Not as thick as I imagined it would be. It's sort of thin, and leans towards the lower end of a medium body. It has a medium amount of carbonation, maybe a little bit over carbonated. Finishes dry.
T - Dark roasted malts, with hints of chocolate and coffee. Seems a little under-balanced with the roasted malts overpowering the beer. A slight metallic taste lingers in the finish.
I'd like to try this at the brewery on tap to see if there is a difference, because there are some good qualities, but a lot of the aroma and flavor seemed to be spoiled from the bottle I tried.

Poured a deep black hue with a two finger creamy dark tan head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a elements of burnt grain, dark chocolate, coffee and smoke.
The taste was rich and smoky, with a strong chocolate and coffee flavor. A bit too much charcoal though.
The mouthfeel was toward the thinner and more carbonated side of the style.
Overall a tasty and complex stout. A bit too much acridness however.

Pours black with dark brown edges. A thin tan head loses its struggle to hang on.
The smell is of roasted dark malt - burnt/ashy. Peat.
The taste is of roasted, even burn dark malt. Ashy taste, as in a classic English stout, with peat-like earthiness. Metallic finish.
Light-to-medium bodied, ash and metallic tinges linger.
A bit too raw, the ashiness and metallic notes run amok and things just don't seem to mesh quite well. It has some potential, but falls apart...Mediocre at best...
Thanks to jcwattsrugger for bringing it back, at least I had a chance to try it.

Solid dark look with just a hint of a red highlight. Short-lived light brown head. Relatively opaque.
Like the others sold at this brewery out of 22oz bottles, this has that wet cardboard smell. Seems like there would a nice coffee smell and a decent dark malt if it weren't overpowered by it's staleness.
Probably would have been a decent-flavored stout, but still consistently has that oxidized smell. (This was bought AT the brewery, not from a second-hand distributor.)
The feel is medium for a stout. Slightly fizzy but otherwise not too shabby. This is just a skunked beer. In perfect conditions I think it would probably be good, but they need to do better in terms of storage.

The beer pours a deep dark black color with a thick frothy tan head that slowly fades. The aroma is decent. It has a nice toasted malt scent with black and chocolate malts as well. It smells a bit musty like thier other offerings, but the dark malts hide it better. The taste is decent also. It has a rich malty core with lots of patent and roasted barley. It goes down smooth and finishes dry. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is an average stout. It's better than thier other offerings, but that's not saying much.
