Numbskull #13: Barbe Rouge Edition!
Lacking logic, caution, or restraint, Numbskull is a hard-hitting and intense Double-IPA. To discover the most exceptional flavours, each new rotation is an experiment in hop lunacy.
Our 13th expedition has unearthed a treasure trove of exceptional flavours with the addition of the Barbe Rouge hop. Developed in Alsace, France, this hop provides a rich blend of strawberry, current, and citrus notes that deliver an invigorating explosion of flavour with every sip.

Not a hop I have run across before, but good first impression!
650 ml bomber (a dinosaur!) split over two nights (actually prefer this format for a high ABV beer over the 500 ml can).
Pours a deep amber orange - near clear - with two fingers of creamy tawny coloured head.
Initial notes of cotton candy on the nose - berry, citrus - over ripe orange, tangerine - and floral - slightly dank and resinous.
Sweet caramel malt on the palate with strawberry, ripe orange, hint of pineapple; floral, grapefruit peel and a resinous sticky bitterness.
Aggressive medium full mouthfeel with a fruity sweetness and a warming boozy sticky bitterness. Very much my thing.

Lighthouse Brewing 'Numbskull Barbe Rouge' @ 9.1% , served from a 650 ml bottle , rotator #13
A-pour is gold from the bottle to a clear gold in the glass with a small size white head leaving a fine spotty lace along the tulip
S-malty DIPA , hints of Barb Rouge - hops
T-more malt & hops stand-out in this DIPA , not so floral as expected , decent bitter swallow
MF-ok carbonation , big full body
Ov-bit disappointing , not my favourite of the rotators
