Bratislavský Meštiansky Pivovar

This is a nice restaurant/brewery/beerhall. Located right on the edge of Old Town, it is worth a stop. It was crowded but we were able to grab a table & seats on the first level.

The décor is great. Lots of brick, wood, arches and metal. Multiple levels and a great main bar room.

Our service was very good. They were attentive but not hovering.

Beer - Only two types on tap during my visit. Both the "regular" and the dark were very good. Unfiltered and very tasty.

The food menu is large and varied. They have a whole section of beer snacks which I thought was great. Everything we had was very good.

This review is for their other location just a bit further outside of the city center than this spot (which was closed on a Monday), but it was worth the short trek. Authentic Slovak food which is quite rich and flavorful and some delicious beer. The leziak 10 and 12 and the Bubak 12 were all very good, easy drinking, and paired well with the food. English menu was helpful and the waitress was very friendly and gave some good suggestions. Interior is rustic yet modern. Great place to stop for lunch or dinner and some local beers!

 

Very cool looking place. Beer not up to par, but it is still a good place to hang out and eat/drink for a bit. I rated the beers around 3.6, so the rating here is the closest (3.5). Wife had pork knuckle and I had goulash. Only two beers here, a light and a dark, plus a non-alcohol beer and an Erdinger weissbier. Service and food were good.
Bump service up .25 for playing Night Ranger, Pink Floyd, and other songs from my era while I was there.

Best goulash I've ever had and the dumplings were extraordinary.

 

 

Visited for lunch and beer. My meal was excellent, a chicken breast, chicken liver and bacon dish. My wife ordered a hamburger well done. It arrived quite pink/red in the middle so she sent it back to be put back on the grill. Unfortunately the waitress did not understand due to language and as we waited and waited, finally found out she had simply thrown it out. They then prepared a second one and the other waitress said she hoped it would arrive well done. It arrive medium rare, so sent back again and my wife opted for a salad instead which the quite good. The waitresses were very friendly and apologetic. We continue to learn over and over not to order hamburgers when in central Europe, but we keep trying just because they are hard to find and we're living in the Czech Republic. :-)

They only make one kind of beer at this brewpub, a light lager, which was quite good with some hop, but nothing special compared to all the Czech lagers available in the area. They also serve a black beer from a Slovakian brewery outside of Bratislava, a German wheat, and a non-alcoholic beer. That's it. For a brewpub, very limited but ok.

I would go back, but will try other places first on my next visit.

Great place! Took me a little bit to find it as I mistook one street for another. It's a bit beyond Michalska Gate. Went twice and bartender Robert was there both times and provided excellent service. Another bartender,Leslie, was there the second time and she was friendly and helpful as well. Food (duck) was outstanding. Got a bit of a tour of the brewery and the premises. They have a seperate room for non-smoking and it had a nice crowd in it. Good design. Excellent beer; it had won a medal for best Slovak beer that year! Medal is on display on back bar to the left. They make only one, a Czech style lager. Looking forward to going back one day.
