Dark and oily in the Stella Artois goblet, with plenty of foam. The fragrance is lush and smokey. Big Bourbon aroma but not as boozy as some. Thick but inviting mouthfeel.
Smooth and malty with a restrained sweetness. Huge aromatics with vanilla and whatever they do to oak barrels in Kentucky. A sharp and woody touch which is welcome. Intense dark roasted malt with cocoa notes. Robust and tangy.
Overall this is hot but not alcohol tasting. One of the most satisfying barrel aged beers I've had in a long time. Bourbon aroma with every sip. From the 32 oz growler filled at the brewery tasting room on Memorial Highway. Nice price of nine dollars vs. the usual outrageous 22 oz bottle pricing. I went back for more this week. Added bonus, my wife loves this stuff.
