I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at Collins Pub in Seattle.

Appearance: rich brown hue with a light haze that still lets some light through. Head is a finger of creamy tan foam. Nice.

Smell: rich, caramelly, toasty and ever so nutty. It really works for me.

Taste: sweet, nutty, toasty and at the last there's a bit of caramel. Bitterness keeps up, and is a bit heavy for the style but really works here. I like it quite a lot.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and very good creaminess.

Overall: this is a very good brown ale indeed. High bitterness impedes crushability, but it's darn drinkable anyway.

Very dark brown color with lots of lacing in the Affligem chalice. Roasty and quite malty. The scratchy graininess is welcome after the moderate sweetness. Fragrant with caramel and flowery hops. The bitter finish and the high alcohol makes this a bolder sort of Brown Ale. Herbal aftertaste.

On draught at the Collins Pub, appearmence is dark, ruddy brown with an off-white head that leaves light, scattered lace.

Smell is roasted nuts, caramel, marscapone.

Taste is similarly balanced, complex. Not as sweet as the nose, which is the perfect combo.

Mouthfeel is very dry, medium bodied.

Drinkability is good, a very solid brow, love the roastier approach.

Served in bubble pint glass. Poured a clean, barely translucent brown with just a thin cap of light brown head that had low retention and OK lacing.

The aroma was mostly rich malts, with a bit of nuttiness and a trace of roast in the background. On the tongue, the roast is much more forward than in the aroma. It has a well-balanced taste, solid malts, just a trace of hops and, a bit surprisingly, not very much sweetness, which a lot of examples of this this style seem to have.

The body was fairly typical, full without being heavy, and had a clean finish. Drinkability was very good, I could easily sip several of these on a rainy Northwest afternoon.

Overall, another pretty good beer from this new brewery. Worth seeking out if you live in, or are visiting, the north (Puget) sound region.
