I've not had many Imperial Pilseners, so it's kind of hard to pin down a score for this beer. Plus, isn't making an "Imperial" version of a mellow, easy drinking style kind of an oxymoron anyway?
Served in straight pint glass. Poured a semi-hazy golden yellow with under a half-inch of white head that had OK retention and lacing. The aroma had some OK grains for a base, a bit of yeastiness floating around and some nicely gentle, but crisp, hops.
The taste was fairly neutral upfront, then the grainy malt base comes in, followed by some hops in the middle. The beer had a mildly unpleasant, slightly bitter finish. The body seemed a bit fuller than average, but again, what is average for this style?
Drinkability was OK, I'll probably have another just to double check my opinion. Overall, a decent enough brew that I'm just a bit unsure about. Probably worth trying if you see it.
