Really, really hoppy. The barrel flavor is quite pleasant but it gets lost in the bitterness. Huge flavors and a must for slaves to the hop goddess. On tap at the brewery.
Very sharp and acidic as well. However the vast aromatics make up for any shortcomings. Pineapple and honeysuckle. Vanilla and wood. Just a hint of booze. Very spicy with orange juice, lime peel, and bitter grapefruit.

The bartender didn't have an accurate style for this beer, it could just as easily been an Imperial IPA. Correct as needed. Served in 10oz goblet. Poured a lightly hazy orange-amber color with 3/4 inch of off-white head that had moderate retention and no lace.
The aroma was gentle bourbon from the barrel and somewhat subtle hops. Whoa! On the tongue the bourbon was very much the dominant feature, but the hops did show through for some counter-point. Those hops were subdued in the front, nicely piney in the middle, and citrusy in the back. The bourbon, however was notably present all across the tastebuds.
The body was nice smoothly full, a bit better than typical for the style(s). Drinkability was pretty good very a big, boozy strong ale/ImpIPA, I had one each on multiple days, but I couldn't see having 2 a night. Overall, a nice beer that I hope to see again, perhaps with some time to soften the booze, and dry-hopped to add blast.
