I heard this place closed a few weeks ago, and that's too bad. This beer, if it was representative of their operation, was a good introduction to them. I liked it enough to have tried other things had they been available, but I guess that's not an option. Maybe they'll resurface elsewhere in the area.

Maybe I had a bad batch, but bought a single at Whole Foods in Montgomery and I hate to say it (because I love goin' local) but this is the worst Oktoberfest I've ever had -- fell totally flat with a heavy, metallic aftertaste.

Pours a clear, yellow/amber colour. Smells like cereal malts, a little sweet, notes of caramel, raisin, and not much else. Tastes light overall, crisp clean, cereal malts, caramel, a little date-syrup, dry palate throughout, slight bitter hop finish, surprisingly light and crisp for an Oktoberfest.

This is a modern version of Oktoberfest; like the ones you see now in Munich. Lots of great malt flavor and nicely balanced with just enough hops! Could use a bit more carbonation, but that hardly detracts from the awesome drinkability of this finely crafted lager. Can't wait for next year's version!

First had poured from 12-oz. bottle, BORN ON "09/19/2015," into stange. Labeled a "Helles Marzen Lager," but seemingly a cross between that style and Märzen/Oktoberfest, it is a bit sweet for either, but still a very good late September (Oktober) lager.
