First had poured from 12-oz. bottle, label stamped born on "11/16/2016," into nonic pint. Sediment-riddled (from the dry-hopping?) rather than "bright" as claimed by the label, this is definitely a pale ale, tending toward the traditional, and more than passable at that.

Pours a hazy cooper with a large foamy head to start with, a orange citrus hoppy
smell to it. The taste is a dry hoppy bite. Overall a nice pale ale but a little closer to an IPA.

Pours a light golden color with at thick, foamy head.
Good hoppy citrus aroma. Very pleasant.
Taste is dry and hoppy. Bitter citrus flavor with a hint of spice.
On the IPA side of APA's.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of strong piney hops, strong citrus hops, and sweet malt. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong citrus hops, hint of pine, sweet malt, and a hint of caramel malt. Overall, tasty, and well blended, but simple and almost boring.

Appearance: Light gold, eggshell cap, good lacing.

Aroma: Strong hops with citrus, conifer, I'll say spicy, and underlying mild malt.

Flavor: Straight forward hop covered malt with an emphasis on piney, citrusy hops being the primary taste. Finish is clean with lingering hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Standard fare here that is above average but doesn't ascend much higher.

Texture: Medium

Overall: Smack in the middle of a crowded field, this one's no better or worse that other IPAs in the group. I would choose this over others only if it was the freshest on the shelf.

BLUE PANTS DRY HOPPED PALE ALE 4/4/16

First out of the gate from the March shipment from the beer club my daughters gifted me for my birthday. We do not get anything from this Alabama brewery in my state.

No visible bottling date info.

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Adams English nonick.

a: Hazy amber with an inch thick white head which receded to even surface foam and spotty lacing.

s: Bready malt and mild alcoho;l.

t; Follows the nose with a light to medium hop bite. Dry finish. Slightly spicy notes develop, and the malt becomes more caramel.

m; Medium, nice body and lingering carbonation tingle.

o: A good American pale, easy drinking yet flavorful enough to keep your attention. Very good dinner brew, but improves as it warms to the point of also being an enjoyable sipper.

Beautiful honey and caramel color. Blunted hop smell. Hops take over the taste. Citrus really doesn't come through as strong as some, but still great tasting. Smooth beer and would definitely buy again.

12 oz bottle from Tenn. with a bottled on date stamp of 3 August 2015.

Clear, amber body even though there was a small amount of sediment clinging to the bottom of the bottle. The off-white head is large, fluffy, and quite durable. It leaves a nearly full coating of patterned, sticky lacing.

Aroma: citrus and herbal hops with some caramel and bready notes.

Flavor: moderately strong with more hop flavor than usual. Moderate-high bitterness overall, with lingering grapefruit peel bitterness in the aftertaste. Plenty of citrus and citrus peel flavor.

Feel: medium-high carbonation. Medium body. Somewhat crisp, Semi-dry finish.

O: a hoppy pale ale that could pass for an IPA.

Surprisingly dark, pellucid amber-honey. It smells inordinately fresh and resinous and fruity. If the smell were a river, and I were a duck, I'd dive to the bottom and never come up.
Good beer. Just light and crisp enough to be quaffable, but rich and hoppy enough that it's dripping with flavor, with enough malt to keep it all in line with a hint of caramelly bread. The flavor is mostly pine, and the aftertaste never ends.
By turns, slightly oversweet or overbitter. It's a seesaw searching for equilibrium.

This is a new one for me from Blue Pants. Their stuff is either really outstanding or really disappointing for me. Bottled on 4/5/15. Older than I would prefer, but really wanted to try it out.

What shines in this beer are the appearance and the mouthfeel! Beautiful looking beer in the glass that hold a gorgeous rocky head with a creamy but refreshing mouthfeel. Very impressive for a 6% beer.

Aroma was a disappointment. Its two months old so that was to be expected, but still as a dry hopped beer that should be its biggest feature. More malt than hop aroma for sure.

Taste is solid right in the middle of the road for an APA. More bitterness than a hop fresh APA would be. Herbal and floral hop notes, crackery and caramel maltiness.

Overall its good, not great. If I can find it fresh I will try it again.

Looks a little homeriffic so far...
Thanks to UncleJedi for this one!

Bright saturated sunset orange tone, chunky lace all around the glass, a rocky head with nice lasting retention. Looks great.

Aroma of toasty husky grains, virtually no hop presence at all. Sad.
Swirling it a few times, nothing. More of a biscuit note from the pale malt.

Lightly bitter, toasted popcorn kernel, husky grain. Dandelion green bitterness lingers into the aftertaste. Light to medium bodied and fairly smooth.

Overall it's ok but I didn't wish I had another one. The scores here are highly inflated and misleading. What happened to objectivity?

Vern nice APA. Great hop aroma and not too bitter. This beer has continued to evolve into one of my favorites. Very good head retention and mouth feel. Balance between malt and hops is spot on.
