Before I begin, I want to note that the ABV on this beer is high for the style. That said... it is supposed to be- hence the Imperial name. However, I feel as if the stronger nature of the beer took away from its enjoyment for me despite what I think is a great recipe that was made to be stronger.
L- Orange gold, opaque, small bubbles with a half a finger head. Poured from bomber into a shaker pint. Lacing throughout is fantastic. Sticky white head of a tenth of an inch is found after a few sips.
S- Malty. Fantastic graham cracker flavor that is to be expected for the style. Hops are lightly there.. but are not distinctive in nature at all.
T- Overall it is a too malty for the style. I would expect it to be much more crisp in its delivery. Unfortunately, I scored this lower than I expected at first sip because it is not that clean pilsner flavor I expect for the style. I believe that the recipe had more malt in it for added alcohol content on the back end. I don't mind that. However, it is not what I expected. Not a bad flavor... just not what I was looking for. Slight burn on the finish that is happily wetted by the maltiness.
F- It should be light to medium. It is medium to full. Carbonation that should be there is nonexistent.
O- All over the board on this one. Delicious nose lead to an unfulfilled tongue. That said, if this were in a different category... it may score better.
