Aroma: Something a little odd in the aroma. Malty, earthy, minerally. Appearance: Brilliant chestnut. Flavor: Malty, earthy, minerally with some molasses, plum and dark fruit, no hops. A little sourness, salty, minerally, lots of cocoa, Mouthfeel: seems a little lighter odied than the style calls or, thin, not complex, needs more body. Has a salty, minerally finish. Overall Impression: needs more malt, less salt.

Pint served by handpump at the Guildford Arms in Edinburgh
A- Light copper body with excellent clarity. 1 finger creamy off white head has good retention down to a crown, with moderate to good lacing.
S- Malt sweetness in aroma, toffee and biscuit, minimal to no hops.
T- Biscuity malt up front which balances well with an earthy hop bitterness in the finish. Neither overpowers and has their place. Nutty hint in the aftertaste.
M- Low carbonation and medium body.
D- A solid well balanced drinking ale, with an abv fit for a session. Very good!
