Wasn't sure what to expect out of this but was pleasantly surprised.
Poured a cola brown but appeared opaque black in the glass. The dense khaki head topped a tasty looking beverage.
Aroma is indeed coffee forward, noticeable but blends quite well with the underlying malts. Quite pleasant.
The flavor follows the nose, coffee and the lactose combine to accent the base stout very well. It's one of the 'purer' coffee stouts I recall ever drinking. They nailed this one.
The feel was a touch on the thin side for something with lactose but not off putting.
overall I found it a very nice, if not excellent, coffee stout with lactose - the beer is the predominate player, as it should be and the coffee with milk sugars play their supporting roles almost to perfection. Good beer!

Incredible stout sampled on tap at Midland Brewing Company. Absolutely delicious. Looks great, nice dark black opaque color with mild off-white head. Abundant sheets of lacing - incredible appearance. Nice aromas of dark roast coffee and mild chocolate that was not overpowering with its sweetness. Also some malt, roasted nuttiness, caramel and vanilla. Taste follows the nose, with great, smooth, creamy, well-balanced mouthfeel. A complex beer with good depth. Perfect amount of carbonation. I appreciated that this wasn’t overly sweet like many dessert-type stouts. An excellent beer!

16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 8/27/2018. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, lactose, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread, light smoke/char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, lactose, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderate creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.6%. Overall this is an awesome coffee milk stout! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, lactose, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Awesome balance of nicely rich malts and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with light earthy hop presence/balance against sweetness. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. An enormous improvement in quality since I last tried their beer years ago.
