A- Cloudy dark yellow with good lacing, looks like a hefeweizen should
S- Heavy Banana, spice and baked good
T- Like a hefeweizen should taste. Banana and Spice yeast flavors are strong and upfront, smacking you in the taste buds and held together with a bready backbone.
M- Heavier than most american offerings, forgoing the stand craft beer interpretation of "light and fizzy".
O-This is hands-down the closest an American craft brewery has come to a traditional German Hefeweizen, and is arguably better than even the "German" weizens we can obtain on store shelves in the USA. Many people complain about the yeasty flavors being overwhelming in some weizens, and that the mouthfeel should be "light and refreshing"..... If you have ever had good local weizens in small pubs in bavaria, you would know that, like this beer, they should have a relatively heavy mouthfeel, and like many Belgian beers, should taste almost sweet because of the strong presence of yeast-based flavor (banana and spice for hefe's) with some breadiness.

Had this on tap twice at Woodward Avenue Brewers.
A- Cloudy yellow and almost no head (could be due to the lemon added by my server, which I later removed) and no lacing. However, I noticed that in my boyfriend's glass, he had very good lacing, and the only difference was that he dropped the lemon completely into the beer. Hmm.
S- Smells fruity and delicious, but I couldn't discern any specific fruit scent.
T- Tastes how one would expect a hefeweizen to taste. There's banana, clove, and hints of other fruit flavors. Very refreshing.
M- Not as light as crisp as I'd expect- it was actually quite heavy, but nothing too overwhelming.
Overall, it was good enough to try on two different occasions. I like hefeweizens and this is a great local offering. It's too bad they don't seem to bottle their beers.
